Job Summary

SST is seeking an Accounting Supervisor in the Dallas area.

The position serves as a part of the SST Client Accounting and Advisory Services Team. This position will be responsible for providing accounting services consistent with client engagement to a variety of organizations including non-profits, ministries, associations, churches, educational institutions, and small businesses in a very fast-paced environment.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Supervise assigned client teams including staff members, timelines, processes, scope, and deliverables Review financial transactions and prepare financial reports for assigned clients
  • Assist with year-end procedures, audit preparation, Form 990 supporting schedules, budgets, and other client-related special projects
  • On-board new clients and train assigned team members on client processes, procedures, and team roles
  • Review documented client workflows, processes, and procedures to ensure accuracy, completeness, appropriate segregation of duties and for streamlining department and client workflow to increase productivity
  • Complete client work by the assigned deadline and within the assigned time budget
  • Ensure files are complete and maintained in line with appropriate electronic filing systems for clients and team
  • Create and monitor client accounting services and special project budgets to proactively identify scope creep. Create change orders/requests as needed.
  • Accurately record, track and monitor time of client teams to ensure services are provided on-time and within budget
  • Participate with a positive team and firm-first attitude by continually communicating with managers, direct supervisors, clients, and the team regarding project status and any potential difficulties in a timely manner.
  • Proactively propose client KPIs, dashboards, and reporting enhancements based on industry and accounting knowledge to provide clients with better management tools
  • Identify and discuss with team members and client representatives’ potential technology enhancements that will streamline client processes and increase efficiency
  • Actively listen to team member and client concerns and provide constructive guidance Proactively schedule meetings with client representatives and team members
  • Propose staffing needs and assignments, based on team member strengths, to management for approval
  • Attend approved industry networking or educational events

Requirements & Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following basic qualifications:

  • 5 – 7 years’ experience in industry or public accounting Previous management experience
  • Knowledge of GAAP (non-profit experience desired)
  • Comfort with technology and the ever-changing technology environment Competence in Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Experience in cloud-based platforms including Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Nexonia QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification preferred
  • Self-motivated, consistently follow through with commitments, take ownership of work and be accountable for actions

Education and Licenses

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Graduate degree desired
